Entering highschool, she played at the varsity level and was an All Conference nominee in her freshman year. After being All Conference in her Sophmore and Junior years, it was only going to get better! Not only did her team win States in her Senior year, but she was named State MVP, All Conference, All Star for the West, MVP for the whole conference in volleyball, and was Female Athlete of the Year. Brittany also played club volleyball all four years of high school. Transfering that success on the court, to coaching has been easy for Brittany. After coaching private lessons this past summer, all of her girls made their teams and earned starting positions. She is also a coach for Pinella's Heat Volleyball Club where her team has qualified for J.O.'s this year.

Her coaching experience with Crosscourt Volleyball Club along with a coaching certificate from University, only add to Heidi's impressive resume. USA Volleyball Beach/Indoor Rule Differences
USAV has sanctioned the international FIVB smaller 8mx8m court.
• You switch sides within games. Wind, sun, and variable lighting on outdoor courts at night all point to the need for switching sides within games. Rally games to 21 points or more switch on multiples of 7. Rally games to 15 switch on multiples of 5.
• Block counts as a team contact in outdoors doubles and triples. O13.1.3 states For doubles and triples competition only: Blocking does constitute a team contact, and any player may make the second contact of the ball after the block. Indoors, the block is never considered one of the team's three allowable contacts.
• Stricter calling of sets on the first ball. Outdoors, it is illegal to double contact the first ball if the ball is not hard-driven and if "finger action" is used. Indoors, it's now legal to double contact any first team contact, which has led to some ugly, yet legal handling of free balls and serves. To legally double a first ball with a “set” you have to be defending a hard-driven attack. That means, you're not receiving a serve. It also means you're defending an opponent's attack on a ball that's moving fast enough such that the referee can judge that you didn't have time to play the ball any other way. Outdoors, it is conceivable (but unlikely) that a serve could legally be "set" by the receiving team, however, this contact is judged with the same scrutiny as a normal set (not double contacted, etc.). Applicable rules: O13.4.2,I14.4.3.2. In fact, it better be absolute nectar, or except to get called!
• Restriction on setting the ball over the net. Indoors, there are no restrictions on this action. In fact, the term "set" is not even defined in the indoor rules. However, outdoor rules require a "set-over" to be perpendicular to your body. An exception is made for sets to a teammate that happen to get blown over the net:
O13.4.5 If the ball is intentionally set into the opponent's court, the player must contact the ball with two hands above his/her shoulders and set it directly forward or directly backward with relation to his/her body. O13.4.5 Commentary: A legal set directed toward a teammate that crosses the net because of the elements is not a fault, regardless of the player's body position.
• No open hand tips/dinks. This is a no-no outdoors. Alternatives include palms, heel of the hand, locked straight fingers (cobra), knurled fingers (poke), or the back of the hand. O13.4.6, I14.4
• Legal to lift/push/carry a hard driven ball. Outdoors, it is legal to momentarily lift or push a "hard-driven ball" on the first team contact. This type of contact allows for overhand "beach digs" that would be ruled as lifts indoors. "Hard-driven ball" is defined as "an attack-hit or blocked ball traveling at a high rate of speed, as judged by the referee). Outdoor rule 13.4.3.1 states "In that case, the ball may be momentarily lifted or pushed, provided the attempt is one continuous motion and the player does not change the direction of that motion while contacting the ball." As of 2004-05 and beyond, it is also legal to double contact such a hard-driven ball. The spirit of this rule is to keep the ball in play longer. In doubles, obviously there is a lot of court to cover, so the rules give some leniency to allow for longer rallies.
• No center line. There is no center-line in outdoor volleyball. You can penetrate under the net provided you do not interfere with your opponent. O15.2,I16.3
• Lower ball pressure. Outdoor ball pressure is 2.5-3.2psi. Indoor balls are much harder at 4.3-4.6psi.
• No penalty for serving out of order (doubles only). If an out-of-order server is discovered, no penalty is charged. The offending player continues serving, and that team's service order is simply reversed such that no one player serves 3 times in a row. O16.3.1.1
• No antennas. Indoor rules strictly stipulate the use of antennas to define the crossing space over the net. Outdoors, however, antennas are rarely used except in pro competition. In the absence of antennas, the posts act as antennas for all purposes except player contact. O2.5, I2.3
• Stricter screening rule (2's and 3's). Unlike the indoor rule (17.7) which prohibits only groups of 2 or more passive players from screening, the outdoor rule prohibits individual player screening as well. O16.7.1 states "On an opponent's request, a player must move sideways or bend over or down [to prevent screening]." In the pros, you will often hear the receiving team request that the blocker move left or right so they can have a clear view of the server. Of course, it's illegal for a single players to wave their arms, jump, or move with the server in both outdoor and indoor rules.
• Can retrieve a ball from opponent's side of the net. Indoors, once you've hit the ball completely across the net, your team can no longer play it. Outdoors, however, your partner may be able to bail you out of a shamefully shanked pass that crosses the net outside of the crossing space:
14.1.2 A ball completely crossing the net below the net or entirely
outside the antennas (posts) may be recovered within the limits of the three team contacts [Rule 15.1.3 and 15.1.4].
14.1.3 A ball completely crossing the net above the net and within or
over the antennas (posts) may not be recovered.
• Match format. Currently (2004-05), USAV beach rules dictate a best of 3 match where the first two games are played to 21 points rally scoring switching every 7 points, and a deciding game if needed is played to 15 points rally scoring, switch every 5 points. No point cap, win by two. You may see different formats depending on the tournament director.
• Service tossing error (no longer a difference). This was new for 1997-98--no service tossing errors are allowed under outdoor or indoor rules.
O16.6 If the server releases the ball for service and does not complete the service, the team will be penalized with a loss of rally.
“IT’S BETTER AT THE BEACH”
Club Beach Dig will teach our juniors the rules and skills required to play competitive beach volleyball. It is our mission to instill in all Beach Dig members; the qualities that will help mold them into elite athletes and successful adults.
Discipline, Sportsmanship, Dedication, Mental Toughness, Physical Excellence, Pride, Respect and Integrity are the
core values of Club Beach Dig.
TRAVEL & ACCOMODATIONS
For Florida Locations Only: Club Beach Dig and the Dig the Beach Series will provide a "host hotel" for each event with discounted rates for players and parents. However, each family will be responsible for booking and paying for their own travel and accommodations.
PARTNER/TEAM POLICY
We encourage you to register with a partner, but we do accept single players. We will do our best to partner you up with a teammate, but there is no guarantee that we will be able to find you a partner for every tournament. As the club continues to grow, it will be more difficult for us to try and match up payers. To date, we have always managed to make it happen, but you have to understand that it is not guaranteed and there is no refund for an event if no partner can be found. It is important that you discuss your schedule with your partner to discover any conflicts early. As there are only 2 players on a team, we don’t have players “on the bench” that can sub in. Commitment and communication with your partner are vital. Also let your coaches know early, so we can do our best to help you find a partner if you need one.
WEATHER POLICY
In the event that a practice is cancelled due to weather conditions, there will be one attempt only, made to reschedule that practice. If there is a second cancellation, we cannot guarantee that that practice will be made up. We have scheduled our practice times with the summer weather conditions in mind and hope to avoid any cancellations. The practice will run at the coaches/directors discretion, meaning we may still practice in slightly rainy conditions if there is no thunder and/or lightning. Therefore, if you don’t hear from your coach you are expected to show up at practice, even in the rain. Many times afternoon showers are very short. We will also have alternative “in-class” type of lessons and conditioning exercises planned for times when we can’t practice on the court. As for tournaments, The Dig the Beach Tour weather policy is as follows: tournaments will run in the rain, but not in thunder and lightning. If a tournament is cancelled because of weather, there will be an attempt made to reschedule the event and the entry fees will be transferred to that event. If the event cannot be rescheduled each player will receive a credit for the entry fee, which will be valid for one year.
PARENT/ PLAYER/ COACH RELATIONSHIP
Parents should encourage their children to demonstrate their level of commitment to beach volleyball, their partner and the Club Beach Dig program. If an issue should arise and a player has a grievance with a coach, the following steps should be taken:
1. The player should discuss the problem or concern with the coach and try to arrive at a resolution.
2. If a player is not satisfied, they should make an appointment to meet with the coach and the club director to try and resolve the problem.
3. If a player is still not satisfied, a meeting with the player, the parents, the coach, and the club director will be set up to hopefully arrive at a solution.
4. Parents should contact the club director if they have a problem with the coach. Please, do not confront a coach during practice or competition.
5. Coaching by a coach or a parent during play is illegal in beach volleyball. Coaches are permitted to coach during time outs and between matches only.
INJURY POLICY
All injuries must be reported immediately to the coach, director, and parents. In case of a major injury, the athlete will not be permitted to participate until written clearance is obtained from the athlete’s physician. Payments made to Club Beach Dig are NOT refundable, except in case of injury or serious illness. Such refunds will be prorated based on the amount of participation and determined by the Director. By law, only personal contributions or payments made directly from parents are refundable. The deposit, uniform costs and printing charges are also not refundable in the event of injury or serious illness.

THE NATION'S BIGGEST AND BEST JUNIOR’S BEACH VOLLEYBALL CLUB
CLUB BEACH DIG FAQ’S
WHAT IS CLUB BEACH DIG?
Club Beach Dig is the Nation's First Full Service Beach Volleyball Club for Junior Boys and Girls. We operate similar to an indoor volleyball club, but on a shorter season and a more affordable membership. Club Beach Dig is completely independent from ANY indoor vollebyall club and does not interfere with your indoor schedule at all. Club Beach Dig welcomes members and coaches from all indoor volleyball clubs, in all of our 6+ divisions across Florida and now in Texas, California and South Carolina. Visit www.beachdig.com on the "club beachdig" page for more information on our different locations. Beach Volleyball Club teams practice 2X per week and compete in Beach Volleyball Tournaments while being coached by the top beach volleyball players in the state!! To get involved as a player or coach, email me today at cindy@beachdig.com
WHERE IS CLUB BEACH DIG?
We are everywhere and still growing! If you don’t see a location near you don’t worry, you could be the start of a new division in your town! Email me today! cindy@beachdig.com to see if we can get a division started near you. And it doesn't have to be in Florida. We've expanded our club to different states, all over the country. Club beach dig currently hosts divisions in West Palm, Deerfield/Ft. Lauderdale, and Miami, as well as Siesta Key, Fort Myers, Orlando and Clearwater/Tampa, Jacksonville, Corpus Christi, TX, Austin, TX, and Charelston, SC!! So don't be afraid to tell all your friends and coaches and associates everywhere!!! Even if they don't live near you, you just might face them on the other side of the net this summer!! For more information on the locations and practice sites, please see the locations page on the website today: www.beachdig.com
WHEN IS THE CLUB BEACH DIG SEASON?
Right about the time you’ve had your fill of cold dark gyms during your indoor and club volleyball season…..Club Beach Dig comes to your rescue!!
So as to not interfere with indoor volleyball, our beach volleyball club season commences as soon as the indoor volleyball club season ends. Our first practices will take place the beginning of May. In order to allow for the kids to start training indoor again at the end of the summer (and to allow YOU some vacation time), our season finishes the end of July. The season is a full 12 weeks long. For more information on dates and rules and policies, visit www.beachdig.com. On the Club Beach Dig page, you will see the "2009Handbook". This handbook is the Club “bible” and should contain all the information you need.
DO I NEED TO SIGN UP WITH A PARTNER?
It is NOT mandatory to sign up with a partner. HOWEVER, it will be much easier for you if you do. As the Beach Volleyball Club continues to grow, it becomes extremely difficult for us to match players up for each tournament. We always try our best and have even had a member from the West Coast match up with a member from the East Coast, but this takes a lot of work and is not ideal. The Beach Dig Coaches will always try to help match you up with another player if you need a partner, BUT THERE IS NO GUARANTEE and this is NOT included in the membership. We have never had a member not be able to play, but as the club continues to grow, this is going to get to be more and more difficult. We have many players that sign up without partners and we will do our best to help match you up!
WHY CLUB BEACH DIG?
Ø You can ask any of our Club Beach Dig members and they will tell you that the fastest and biggest improvement they've seen in their volleyball game, took place at the beach!! Not only do they stay in shape and stay on top of their game over the summer; Club Beach Dig members are coached by the TOP beach volleyball players and coaches in the state!
Ø You can ask any of our Club BeachDig parents and they will tell you how much they enjoy their trips to the beach for both practices and beach volleyball tournaments. The family beach time together is relaxing, fun and rejuvenating. Many of our Beach Dig mom’s enjoy walking the beaches while their kids practice and often make little family vacations out of our tournaments. We travel to the most beautiful beaches in the state.
Ø Club Beach Dig is happy to have a partnership with the Dig the Beach Junior's Beach Series! After Club Beach Dig’s incredible growth from 2007-2008, USAV and now colleges have taken notice! Great job everyone! You are all a part of something new and great happening here and the sky is the limit!
Ø Club Beach DIg is a USAV sanctioned Beach Volleyball Program. What does this mean to you? It means that all of the players and coaches are also members of USAV. This means the coaches are screened and reputable and in good standing with USA Volleyball. Club Beach Dig is insured and all Coaches must pass a background check.
Ø In 2007, the USAV and the Junior’s series initiated a brand new point system. Now, the juniors will receive points (just like the pros), in each of the beach volleyball events that make up the Club Beach Dig Season. Teams will compete for a chance to represent their state and Club Beach Dig in the Junior National Beach Championships in California. Winning teams will be subsidized to help pay for their trips!!! No other series can offer this point system or rewards and it is exclusive to the Club Beach Dig Season!!
Ø Stardom!! You might just find yourself in the papers, magazines and on TV. Club Beach Dig members would often find themselves being interviewed for television, newspaper or magazine articles about this great beach volleyball club program or the growing popularity of the sport. The Dig the Beach Series televises several tournaments, so you're bound to end up on TV at some point!!
Ø On the weekend when we don't have a Jr. Series event, we encourage you to play in some of the other beach volleyball tours that take place in Florida! There is always somewhere to play!!
Ø The fun never stops with Club Beach Dig!!! Any 2007 or 2008 Club Beach Dig member will tell you that their surprise meeting and autograph session with the biggest name in beach and indoor volleyball, was just one highlight of their summer!! Club Beach Dig was honored to bring Karch Kiraly to meet all the Beach Volleyball Club members at our Siesta Key event! The year-end pizza party at the Championships in 2008 was also a huge hit! We train and play hard, but we also have a blast on the Florida beaches all summer long.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST AND WHAT IS INCLUDED?
Club Beach Dig has 2 different pricing structures available. Because of the short season and the new point system, we are offering a significant discount when the entire 12 weeks are paid up front. There is a per-month fee that is higher, and arrangements must be made with your partner in order to register in this manner. Each member pays a one-time, non-refundable registration fee of$100 (if paid by the deadline TBA). For complete pricing information, visit www.beachdig.com and read the 2009 Handbook that is available on the "Club Beach Dig" page. At your request, we have also added a discount for 3-member families!! Your membership fees include, 2 Beach volleyball practices per week, balls and equipment, coach’s salaries, team t-shirts and gear, court rentals/permits, insurance and tournament entry fees. The "Dig The Beach Series" will provide a host hotel that will offer discounted rates to players and parents. With 2 tournaments per month, (each entry fee being $70 per team), you will find that our membership fees are quite affordable!!!
What form of payments do you accept?
All Club Registrations and payments will be made online in 2009. We have spent a lot of time and money to automate this system to make things easier for everyone and have less paperwork. You will be able to sign up online and pay online with the touch of your mouse, using visa, mastercard, american express or discover. Many of you have requested this in the past, so we are happy to be able to provide it for you this year! Since we require full payment of the membership up front, the option to use your credit card will be very helpful this year.
Now you have all the key facts about Club Beach Dig...Florida Beach Volleyball at it's best!!

Way to make us Proud!!
Coach Cindy,
When you created Club Beach Dig, Jenna was looking forward to playing on the beach all summer. Your passion and dedication to the sport was quite evident. I do not know how you pulled all of this off, especially dealing with changing partners and vacation schedules. Your vision to create a quality beach volleyball program for juniors was amazing and it was quite exciting to be a part of this movement during its inception.
You have our sincerest gratitude for making Jenna a better volleyball player, as well as an athlete. She was extremely lucky to get you as a coach!!! Thank you so very much for all you have done for Jenna.
Sincerely,
The Keelers - Parkland, FL | Back to Main Club Page »
it's Alexis. I just wanted to thank you for all your help and hard work this whole season, and for starting Club Beach Dig! I LOVED it; it was so much fun to play volleyball and make new friends. You definately proved to me that it IS better at the beach! I'm sad the season is over and I'm going to miss everybody, but I CAN'T WAIT for next summer! Good luck at all your future tourneys and see you Tuesday.
Love Always, Lexi - Pompano, FL

I am totally impressed by your level of organization and your coaching style (that goes for Capri too). I carpooled last year to indoor club volleyball and every evening when I would pick up my carload of girls from practice, they all expressed how they no longer enjoyed volleyball and how they wanted to quit the sport. That sentiment was overwhelmingly unanimous. You and Capri are so supportive and positive and consequently, the girls have a renewed love for the game and a desire to play well and improve. Kudos to you all!

One further thing..... I always tell Taylor that whatever she does in life, she needs to follow her passion as that will lead to success and happiness. The other day she said to me, "Cindy is a huge success with her beach dig club b/c she has pursued her passion." I guess T gets it. Have a great day.
I also want to take this opportunity to thank you for such a great summer. We have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of your club. Brie can only continue to get better with yours and Capri's instruction. You have given her a new found love. She has always loved Volleyball, but she really loves being involved in Beach Volleyball. Once again thank you and we look forward to seeing you on the beach.

Lauren and I wish you all the success in your first season with Club Beach Dig...your passion and dedication have sparked so many players interest in beach volleyball. Lauren has absolutely fallen in love with it.
Thank You,

First, thanks so much for teaching Elise beach volleyball this summer. You and Rhi were great role models for my daughter, and I especially appreciated that. She really did love it, even if it was hard and grueling! She likes it better than indoor (for now), and feels she'll be able to keep playing volleyball as much as she wants for the rest of her life, even if she's not 6" tall. I know she learned a lot about herself as a person, an athlete, a competitor, and a friend.
Sincerely,
Lisa Babey - Weston, FL

First we'd like to thank you, Cindy, and Marcela for your time, energy and intense conditioning and training sessions. Nastassja says she learned a lot during her training sessions with Marcela about controlling the ball, and specifically enjoyed learning about the different ways to direct her returns that will assist her immensely with her indoor game!
Congratulations to you Cindy for your great feats thus far as well as to all of the coaches for the marvelous role models you have been for these young minds and bodies! I commend you both as a mom and a former Child Psychologist. Keep up the grand work!
Angel Schmiedt/Nastassja – Miami, FL

I would like to take a moment to thank you for the amazing opportunity that I have experienced with Club Beach Dig. I can't put into words how much I have learned from helping assist Keawe. Each week I discovered new ways of explaining drills, different methods of improving the athletes, and faced challenges that tested me. Coaching even helped me improve my own game. When I would make a mistake I can hear myself correcting one of the girls for the same mistake.
I am also very glad to have met you. I have always known who you were because of your reputation on the beach, but now I know much more than your rep. It is inspiring to see how much one woman can enhance beach volleyball. Through Club Beach Dig so many kids have experienced beach volleyball in a way that could change there lives. There is nothing better than looking down the beach and seeing kids playing great ball on rows and rows of nets. Thanks to your hard work, patient personality, and knowledge of the game, beach volleyball is growing by leaps and bonds in South Florida, and I am so grateful to be a part of it.
You are awesome!
Thanks for everything
Alyse
